Mental Health & Behaviour
Children’s mental well-being is key to their growth. Anxiety, depression, or behavioural challenges can show up as mood changes, withdrawal from family, friends and school, sleep issues, acting out. Shorter periods of emotional or behavioural ups and downs are common and part of human life. But sometimes the down does not go away and it is time to seek help. It is normal to need support sometimes.
Anxiety: Children may worry excessively or avoid situations, and it might show as restlessness or physical complaints.
Depression: Kids might feel persistently sad, lose interest in fun activities, or have changes in sleep or appetite.
Mood dysregulation and oppositional defiant disorder: Children have intense emotional outbursts or frequent defiance beyond typical limits.
Dr Arno can assess for these emotional or behavioural concerns, offer guidance, and refer to counselling and other interventions and resources. Sometimes, if needed, he will discuss also medication options with you. Nurturing mental health helps children feel safe and understood.
